Meet the artist

A young woman with long brown hair and a beige blazer sitting on a black stool, smiling, surrounded by houseplants and flowers in a white studio. She is holding a small white bottle in her left hand, her right ankle is resting on her left knee. The background and floor are white, with a wooden shelf to her right containing a potted plant, a framed abstract art piece, and a yellow feathered decorative item. A vase of white flowers is on the floor in front of her.

Artist statement

My work is an exploration of colour, texture, memory, and the quiet beauty found in everyday life.

Working primarily in acrylic, I create vibrant, textural paintings that move between representation and abstraction. I am drawn to landscapes, gardens, travel, and fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed the warmth of light across a landscape, the movement of water, a familiar place, or the feeling of discovering somewhere new. Through layered paint, expressive marks, and rich colour, I try to capture not only what a place looks like, but how it feels to experience it.

My work is deeply influenced by the places and people that have shaped the way I see the world. Living in Vancouver, travelling through Italy, and my Ukrainian family roots have all contributed to my visual language. I am especially inspired by the ability to find beauty and colour even within difficult or uncertain moments, something I have learned through both family history and my own experiences.

Colour is central to my practice. I use vibrant, often unexpected combinations to create a sense of warmth, movement, and optimism. Texture allows the paintings to become physical experiences, encouraging the viewer to look closely and spend time exploring.

At the heart of my practice is a desire to remind myself and others to slow down and notice the things that make life beautiful. I create paintings as small celebrations of being present of travel, connection, nature, memory, and the ordinary moments that become meaningful when we truly pay attention.

My work is ultimately about finding and holding onto the things worth living for.
